Résumé : | Volume 2 is devoted to electric machines, with an emphasis on new types of machines. The opening chapter of the volume introduces electric machine fundamentals; it starts with Maxwell's equations and proceeds to more advanced topics, including the design of machine windings. Several chapters cover various techniques of computer simulation and optimization. In particular, "topology optimization" is capable of producing efficient machine designs essentially from scratch, i.e. with minimal initial assumptions about the geometry and layout of the machine. Other chapters deal with the calculation and measurement of core loss in electric machines, as well as analyses of several types of modern machines for automotive applications, axial flux machines, superconducting machines, and magnetic gears. |
